mental health awareness month

Hej!

Hi! I don't know if you know about it, but in the USA may is a mental health awareness month. In the UK we also had a mental health awareness week that took place from 13th to 19th May. Talking about mental health aloud is a very important thing. I've noticed that recently there are more and more campaigns that promote mental health awareness, wellbeing and therapies. Many people are breaking the taboo that going to a psychologist or psychiatrist is something negative that we should be ashamed of. I even by myself already recorded a video about going to a psychologist, but I will talk about it one more time because it's something I like promoting and I think that I can always reach and help someone new.
I started going to my psychologist when I was in the first class of high school and my therapy lasted a couple of months. Maybe it wasn't that long period of time, but if I hadn't gone to a therapy thanks to my parents then I wouldn't have been able to deal with the problems I had on my mind. I struggled since secondary school, but in high school, I realised I couldn't go on like that so I and my parents decided that the best option would be to attend a talking therapy. There are different opinions about psychologists. Sometimes, people have a negative attitude about the whole idea of talking to a stranger (they go to therapy without their own will) and that's why therapy doesn't give good results. I didn't like every session I had, but I went there anyway because I wanted to and I knew that if I tell my problems to someone who understands me better than my parents then I'll feel relief. Talking therapy helped me a lot. First of all, my psychologist made me aware of a few important things that helped me to deal with my problems. Therefore, I had a different attitude towards everything that I struggled with. Moreover, talking with somebody that would never judge you is something that has a positive effect in itself.
Many people think that going to therapy is like showing some weakness and they are afraid of what their neighbourhood would think of them. It's not showing any weakness. Going to therapy shows that you want to be a stronger and better version of yourself and you want to help yourself. Can you call this a weakness? I don't think so.
Talking with a psychologist can have great results, and it will have if you open up yourself and decide on your own that it is worth to try and go there. There is nothing to be ashamed of. It's the best thing that you can do for yourself. If you ever thought about going to therapy and talking about your problems, then you shouldn't wait. You won't regret it. Everything will be brighter. Help yourself.
Below, I'm posting some photos from Hyde Park, London. It's the best park I've ever been to!
What do you think about talking therapies?
